Out of town

Off to Verbier for a wk-long getaway. Snow...snow... lots of them...Brrr..I am cold just thinking about it. My plan is to stay in front of the fireplace while having my hot chocolate or just finish my book or maybe do a 1500 pieces of puzzles while I contemplate the view outside. Or I can learn to ski, have fun with the girls outside while bob-sleighing or make a snowman and snow angel!! Have a great week!!

Thursday with Nanay

Another lunch with Nanay...Grilled chicken wings and glazed carrot. I shaped the carrots into flowers just to entice her to eat vegetable. Well, she was like: "flowers, Nanay!" beaming, she actually tasted it but didn't eat a single slice. It was a bit frustrating when I saw her reaction or the lack of it (photo2) but after finishing the chicken that was on her plate she asked for more. Great ! Watching the way she munch those bones reminded me of the women on both sides of her family.;) Pass your mouse over the photos for a bigger image.

...and he is not that happy!

"All I need is some space!". This was told with a plea and urgency in his voice but we were about to go out that night(the very first one after a loooong time)so I didn't argue. It was Valentine's Day and there was no need to be so dramatic therefore I stayed calm. I knew this issue would come again one day but with a growing family he should understand. I felt sorry for him. During the first few months in our new house, everything went smoothly. He had what he wanted but eventually we invaded it. This wasn't intentional it's just that we have a limited one. Thinking that it was alright, I kept on putting the girls'stuff and sometimes mine beside his. Well, I'm talking about storage. This is a 5-shelf-unit and he has one for his stuff which was reduced into half as you can see. The poor guy!! So now I don't have any other choice but to take things out of his way but then again this is for the tranquillity of our household, right?

Got to finish these soon!!

I refuse to do another New Year's resolution.  Alright, it's already February and in 10 months another year will be over but there are so many things that I want to accomplish and one of them is to be able to read more books. There is also my distance learning or correspondence course where I have been lagging behind. I have so many excuses: My 2nd baby came just when I was about to start my lesson. We moved out of the apartment(packing), then had a new one(unpacking). It has been 7 months since I did the latter. I should have finished more materials for my course and read a dozen books. So why not? PROCRASTINATION. I don't think there's another explanation and it's really frustrating. Time is gold. I do wish that my mind can understand that.

Thursday with Nanay

It's almost the end of the week, and as usual every Thursday I have a cooking challenge where in what's in the fridge would be used for Karen's lunch. I have yet to hear a "more Nanay, please!" from my loving daughter, but in the meantime, once a week Nanay's cooking prowess is put to the test. Will my discerning daughter finally appreciate her Thursday lunch? I am keeping my fingers crossed. Fried rice with chicken and veggies ....there might be some hope here! and I heard..."all done,Nanay!" Well, maybe next week, then!

Early bird!

that's in the morning!! and look what she's doing... Wow, that alarm clock needs some cleaning ;) Reading is one of K's favorite things to do aside from scattering her toys on the floor.Hubby is reading to her in french before going to bed and I make it a habit to read to her during the day. One of the first signs I taught her was book and from then on she would sign me book when she wanted to hear a story. Now that she can say the word, our main concern is to put a stop on reading the same story over and over again. I have recently bought her a picture book of 30 stories. For two days she would ask for the mouse story(Contrary Mary)then we both discovered "In the Rain with Baby Duck". Oh how she loves it, so as expected this is what we've been reading for days now. I am still enticing her to leave Baby Duck for the time being and get to know a little bit of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. But it's not that easy,I guess she finds Baby Duck's umbrella

Thursday with Nanay

My daughter was spared from my cooking!! Her Ninang(godmother) came back from her vacation in the Philippines and they had lunch together. Lucky girl ;) Anyway, Karen's supposed lunch was a left over from my hubby's menu last night: pork in apple sauce and boiled potatoes. Actually, there was only a slice of meat and two potatoes left. I just tweaked it a bit and ended up with--- sliced porc with green beans and mashed potato Hmmm, now who's going to eat this?

Mama mia!

She was 20 when the first child came - a year after she got married, then 3 more followed. Unfortunately, life for someone who wed at a young age wasn't that easy but she didn't waver. Her children became her sole reason and strength. From being a store keeper to insurance agent, to becoming an OFW from Lebanon to Switzerland. She has experienced  a varied life but  she is first a mother who has  sacrificed a lot and whom her children look up to and truly love, a Mami and Mama to her grand children. She has done it all and still wouldn't stop. Her tenacity is admirable. It might have taken a while to finally have her own house but it's worth the wait. Today she is 60. Still bustling with energy. Spoiling her grand children. Lavishly. My only wish : take time to relax and enjoy the flowers . We love you so much Mama!!! Happy, happy birthday!!!
