Altitude - TODAY

We had a very early morning. Dropped one daughter off at the tram station , left the other while she was getting ready for school, and drove to Plateau de Glières to forage some bolet and chanterelles . It's an hour or so from Lancy . We were not the first ones to arrive and hoped to find a lot of mushrooms .  5 things TODAY. Silence. We were together in silence amidst the forest. Coffee. It was a bit cold while walking in the forest and we thought of having some coffee once we were in the village but due to time constraints went to do the grocery first and headed home in time for lunch. Next time we plan to be coffee-ready even stay longer and have the day only for gathering mushrooms Kindness. We all need that today.  Patience. Foraging mushrooms is synonymous with patience. We walk towards that goal of finding the chanterelle yet if and when there's none, it's alright. Next season again.  Being grateful. Of our time together, of the lone chanterelle and the...

Sabbatical year

Our adventure has started. First stop is Lisbon, Portugal. Bom dia! Early morning in Sacavém The dream My husband talked about wanting a Sabbatical Year for a long time. I was skeptical at first. How can we do it? Leaving our home for a year with two young daughters in tow. Yes, we have travelled a lot, using any possible mode of transportation but 12 months -- away from Verjus, our family and friends? How about my potager and my job ? The how January 2018-we started to organize our trip and to facilitate this I emailed 3 travel agencies in Geneva and only STA responded, thanks to Marina . The girls' school directress was also given notice. In the months that followed and the inevitable departure  looming, my girls and I have started sorting their toys and clothes out. Packed, recycled or trashed. Sold small stuff as well thru Facebook and my favorite Bourse aux vêtements in Grand-Lancy . Visa and accomodations were readied. Visited doctors, consul...

Travelled and survived the summer

summer 2010 - Lyon My eldest turned 10 three days ago. Yes, she is the one on the red stroller alongside our youngest. One summer with only one rucksack and a medium size backpack we were good to go nevertheless we have struggled with strollers in the train.  Our travelling strategy changes from year to year as  they grow older and I get better in packing.  How I wish to travel light next year.

A heart full of gratitude

New York

Disney store, Times Square The city is slowly getting smaller as I look out the plane. Below,  long lustrous lines of lights stretch its way all around the busy streets. I stared at the buildings with all its glimmering lights &  from where I am, they look like stocks of gold – shimmering and sublime.   What a sight to behold, I turned to my husband and kissed him, thanking him of this wonderful experience. Then I closed my eyes, utter a prayer of gratitude all the while engraving in my mind the splendor I am leaving behind. You have captivated me, New York. I hope to see you again.

Of love and letting go

daffodil in the garden, Lancy2016 L ove has given me the courage to do things I thought I was not capable of. To dare, get lost and eventually learn.  Yet, love for me  is also sacrifice and patience. Family and friends. Letting go and rebirth.  Forgiveness and understanding... That love is not  only an effort given to someone or the length of time spent together but rather knowing you have given a part of yourself to that special person and at that moment in time experienced a marvelous feeling of completeness. And when that feeling has already dissipated, it's either you turn love into a verb, making an effort to do it all over again or let go. Say goodbye. Cry. Feel the pain and disappointment. But remember letting go would not mean ceasing to experience love but rather giving someone else the chance to love you. Just don't let that moment passes you by. ♥

Thankful

Espoo,Finland 2015 It was sunny this morning. The heat penetrating my face as I sat beside my husband, watching our girls went round and round the rink joyfully. I closed my eyes for a brief moment and revel in the warmth of the day. How I love to linger and fully submerge in this idle moment. To take my shoes off and pretend that it's 27° C. To drink aperol spritz... Nevertheless, I am thankful. For the warm day and family.  Cheerful girls and renversé.  Till next time Sunday.

Holiday in a camper van

The ride The first time I laid eyes on this one, I was amazed. A promise of many road trips and camping was written all over her.  But this is not what we have taken on a camping but rather this:    Nevertheless, it was still an exciting experience for the whole family.  A week of bonding and adventure. Something we'll all cherish. ♡

To live and travel with you

5th anniversary

June 3,2012 Coming up with an original title for this post wasn't easy. I even forgot the date. Shame on me. It wasn't supposed to be like that. Weeks before the 30th June--our 5th anniversary, I wondered if my husband would remember the date coz it was also the day we'd leave for our 1 week vacation in Bourgogne--one of the many regions in France. With all the house chores and trip preparation,it slipped my mind. It was on our way to Chaignay where we'd stay that he wished me "Happy Birthday!" and told me that he was sure I'd forgotten about it. Anyway, we had kir with my MIL,SIL and her BF, and we'd be going out tonight for a late dinner celebration. So glad that we've reached this far, dahling! Here's to lots of love, happiness, health and GIFTS!!! You might also like: Tagay pa?* An enchanting moment Sunday and rainbow Let it snow, let it snow--man! How...

Happy Father's Day

Princess and fairy dance to celebrate this day. Your day... A special day for a father of two lucky girls. A Papa of all trades--a lumberjack who provides firewood to keep his family warm, a carpenter who builds and repairs anything in the house, the best chef ever--risotto, homemade pizza, pasta with every sauce imaginable--the list goes on and on... The kingdom is amaze of how you turn out as a father: loving, generous, funny and ready to re-heat milk every time. But, the Queen would prefer that you put your socks and other stuff in the laundry basket. Happy Father's Day, love!! You might also like: Vacation mode!! Here I am again!! Not only in the Philippines

14th June 2012 The silhouette seemed to be doing something while holding a penlight. I stared at it for a brief second and check if Carlo was beside me. Right then and there, I've realized that someone broke into our house. While I screamed at that person, my husband woke up and the guy hurried out. As our room was filled with lights, I quickly made my way to the girls' room. A sigh of relief came out of me, they were sleeping soundly. Quickly scanning our home, we've noted out loud what was taken. My husband went out to run after the guy while I wait for the computer to start, we needed to find the phone numbers to block all his cards. I then dialed the police number. Soon after my husband arrived holding his belongings, found by the gate. Still shaken by what had just transpired, I gave him the phone and he continued talking to the police. Another one arrived to take finger prints It felt weird...I felt weird. Sitting on the sofa,I wrapped a blanket around me...it was a...
