Clutter- 5 things TODAY

The garden. My plot is steadily taking shape hopefully in time for the greenhouse . Not much effort is needed to pull out the weeds yet it's a challenge to level the soil. I wanted to get this miniature level to make sure of that. Solution. I have finally found out my hens' problem and now, will be able to apply the proper solution for them. It will be a long process but that's how it is. Clutter . Father and daughter team clearing the attic. A part of it, nonetheless what's important is they have started. Agenda. My spring notebook is almost full not only with my to-do list but with book titles, quotes as well as recipes. There are times when not everything is accomplished yet seeing my daily written plan works for me and I function better with it. Packed lunch. Cooked chicken curry for Erin's lunch and she's not convinced that it was a curry dish. 😄 Nanay's pretend chicken curry 5 pcs chicken thigh a can of coconut milk 2 spoonfuls of Panang curry past...

Altitude - TODAY

We had a very early morning. Dropped one daughter off at the tram station , left the other while she was getting ready for school, and drove to Plateau de Glières to forage some bolet and chanterelles . It's an hour or so from Lancy . We were not the first ones to arrive and hoped to find a lot of mushrooms .  5 things TODAY. Silence. We were together in silence amidst the forest. Coffee. It was a bit cold while walking in the forest and we thought of having some coffee once we were in the village but due to time constraints went to do the grocery first and headed home in time for lunch. Next time we plan to be coffee-ready even stay longer and have the day only for gathering mushrooms Kindness. We all need that today.  Patience. Foraging mushrooms is synonymous with patience. We walk towards that goal of finding the chanterelle yet if and when there's none, it's alright. Next season again.  Being grateful. Of our time together, of the lone chanterelle and the...

5th day- 5 things TODAY

Till Christmas that's my plan.  The afternoon breeze. I am so grateful that while contemplating our garden there was this soft and gentle breeze that made the plants and branches dance and created a beautiful union. Read >10 pages of my current book . I am concentrating on it and hopefully will finish by Sunday. Art and school supply . Went to town with my eldest daughter, Karen to get her supplie s for this school year. The sales staff is a gem and we thanked her and wished her a great day. Called my siblings. Talking to them always brings joy to my heart.    The rain . I was ready to dance under the rain, to bounce and lift my arms up high. To celebrate the fact that our garden is happy.  Unfortunately, it did not happen.  Nonetheless, patience is the key. I am rain dance-ready.

4th day - 5 things TODAY ( till Christmas)

I've found out that George Eliot is the pen name of the English novelist, Mary Ann Evans . I haven't read any of her works but it will be interesting to read her poem.  For my 5 things today: Admired how beautiful the sky was this morning. This is such a privilege for me at this time and I don't want to take it for granted.  Gave TLC to my 3 hens . I named them - Puti (for an obvious reason), Molly, and Rosie. Sprinkled some water on their coop all the while telling them how the water would refresh the surrounding and thanking them for the eggs. Emailed a friend. I met her during the lowest moment in my life. She also has an autoimmune disease called rheumatoid arthritis . At that time I was newly diagnosed. Meeting her strengthened my belief that there's hope.  There's no cure for this kind of autoimmune disease however, with a good treatment coupled with lifestyle change, it's easier to handle and one can function better.  Practiced emotional intelligence...

First Day

my schanafouilles  Monday was the first day of school. My eldest is in secondary or Cycle d'orientation while my youngest is in the primary school.  T he girls were anxious and I tried not to show mine.  However, compared to previous years, this time, it feels like we're ready. I am not talking about being on time, having satisfying breakfast, and all but rather the changes and the possibilities ahead. As their mother, I lovingly embrace it now, not without the first day anxiety :) and welcome the fact that my babies are growing up and becoming more independent. No more brushing their hair into pigtails and braids. School snacks are not prepared anymore. Though this time, one wore my t-shirt and the other one my light jacket. Some years ago, when my youngest did not feel like going to school, I drew a heart on a piece of paper with a little note that says: I love you forever. I told her that though, Nanay cannot go to school with her, my heart is with her and hopefully, s...

Claire's and my girls

There should be a lounge, some magazines and while we're at it how about some coffee with macaroons or cupcakes. Ah! The dream of someone like me who accompanied her daughter at Claire's one Wednesday morning.  How I wish to say that it was a great day..an experience not to miss but it was just the opposite for me. The shop has so many interesting products and my two girls go ga-ga over them especially with promos like buy 3 and get 3 more for free or get 10 for chf 10.- They go round and round, undecided, ooh and ahhs as they hop from one display to another.  At this particular Wednesday morning ,however, there was only one daughter with me. I swear, she is  in the shop while I took this picture, buried among the merchandise. I didn't time her but it felt like eternity waiting for her. I should have chosen not to be mad, not think of the lunch that I needed to prepare and just wait and let my feet stay rooted in front of the shop. I should have sat and ordered some...

5 reasons of Summer in Verbier

August in La Pineta

Summer in Verbier will always be my family's favorite time. Here are some of the reasons why:   1. Family, friends and Swiss National Day  August in Verbier is not complete without our family and friends. We have seen our children from quietly sitting on the baby relax by the fire place to hiking, from tantrums to playing Mille Bornes and sleeping in the tent under the moonlight. Spending the Swiss National Day in Verbier is extra special because we got to enjoy the fireworks of the village and have our own (thanks to the Bosc) in front of the chalet amidst the shrieking children and adults alike. 2.Mountains  I have yet to memorize all the mountains we have in front of the chalet. Nevetheless, seeing them green with the blue sky, the clouds scattered all around all the while drinking coffee as the sun comes out with the birds chirping and kids sound asleep is just something a parent has to experience in La Pineta. Besides, it's our vacatio...
