Gardening

At an early age I was exposed to gardening, thanks to my grandfathers and my parents.I remember my Mother giving the schedule for watering the plants. But it wasn't my favorite after school activity. I would drag my feet just to go around our garden and prayed that my turn to do it would soon end. This chore was something we could not avoid. Without realizing it, my love for gardening was slowly taking place. This is something I cannot stay away from and presently, it's slowly unfolding. Little Miss Sunshine preparing her container garden. Therefore, I want my daughters to learn gardening. To experience at an early age the love for plants and growing something just like I did. And she's excited. We visit her container garden every morning. She'd tell her youngest sister to be careful with the pots,etc...and she'd water my kalamansi. I see my old folks' legacy in her. Today

Come walk with me. Let's enjoy the sun. Don't put your headphone on, instead listen to your surrounding,to the children laughing, to the rustling leaves. Look up and see how beautiful the sky is. Can you see that bird, or how about that tree. Let's stop for a while and watch the boys play football. A spaniel or a hound dog? Bonza pass your mouse cursor over the image to see another one With our hectic schedule we are always in a hurry, sometimes not even taking notice of the weather, the people around us and the nature. We block our senses with nonessential and in doing so miss little things that are important. Hence, today let's simply enjoy our time together and feed our senses with Mother Nature's gift. The art of lighting a fire

As soon as the day starts to get warm, we take advantage of it and have barbeque at home. Hubby has this mini grill that we use and easy to clean. The only downside is that we crouch while cooking coz we do it with woods we have around our garden. Just like in lighting a fireplace, my husband and I have different ways of lighting a fire for our bbq. He'd gather branches and light some crumpled papers in the middle. I, on the other hand would get twigs, light some papers in the middle and as soon as the flame started, that's the only time I'd put the bigger chunks of wood. I learned this while growing up and cooking over a firewood stove. As I write this, I was reminded of Christian's experience in Zambales with his guide named Kasuy on lighting a fire. I would like to learn his way. No need to crumpled papers or look for a lighter just an ancient method that really works. You might also like: Learning to bake Random thoughts Itay

Keeping toddlers' room tidy

...even for a day. This would be really amazing. Books on the shelves. Toys in the boxes. Beds neatly done. Erin playing one toy at a time. Keeping the floor clutter-free. It's not everyday that this happen. All the more reason to capture the moment. To immortalize the tidiness and the calm that the girls' room exudes.Yes...even for a day. ♥ You might also like: Little people's out-of-town wkend do's and don't What do you think is this? A Memoir of an Ex CLEANING LADY

by Elle The Beginning Y ou'll notice that I've written my title in capital letters. It's about giving my profession a decent recognition it deserve. But first, let me tell you about myself. I'm one of those Pinays who at 21, left our beloved country to seek for a greener pasture. You know the usual---help my family, save for my future blah, blah, blah. Well, that's half-truth. I really wanted to buy shoes, own as much as Imelda did because growing up with 5 siblings wasn't all that easy in the fashion category. People might find it obscene to have that kind of goal. I don't mind. There are those who left to get away from something or someone, through a legal or illegal manner,to amass wealth, build their dream house, marry a foreigner but mine is different. I want to be different. And what's more different than surpassing the "Rose of Tacloban"? Therefore following my incessant plea to my aunt who was in Europe at that time, she helped m

Salad Party

A family of slug is partying on my salad patch and they are having a blast. I, on the other hand, am not invited and am furious. The salad leaves are all wiped out save from the ones in the container. They usually come after the rain and in the early morning. Or maybe they start at night. I don't know. What I know for sure is that my salad patch ceased to be one. MIL suggested that I use a kind of repellent--blue granules that should be put strategically around the garden where they feast. I'm still thinking about that until the moment I find a more natural way of keeping these slugs away from my garden. Any suggestion? You might also like: Thursday with Nanay Early bird!
