Christmas at home

I cannot remember how many Christmases spent away from home--that is, Philippines. There were so many "Simbang Gabi" or Night Mass missed and my tons of godchildren are now young adults that sometimes I don't know who's who.

Having my own family now made my Christmas a lot more different. The longing to be home during holiday season is more bearable . But I think what makes me yearn Christmas à la Philippine style is the way we welcome this very special occassion. Everyone is in a festive mood. Excited. Places are vibrating with energy. We are with familiar faces.

As I celebrate one more Christmas away from home, the usual feeling sets in but I don't want it to overwhelm me. I'm celebrating it with my own little family with the warm thoughts of home in my heart.

I'm usually missing my family when we're not together esp on holidays such as these as well. Still, it's the love and warmth of knowing that they're close to our hearts that gives us comfort at Christmas isn't it? Have a wonderful one!
I can imagine how hard to live far away from family in your home town...

But as you said, you already have your own family...so, they are your home now :)

Our mid-week get away in Dijon

Dijon, one of the cities in France, was the destination of our mid-week get away. The city, which is well known for its mustard,is a 3-hour train ride from Genève via Lausanne. As I've mentioned in my previous post ,this was my first time to visit the city. We arrived mid-day to a gloomy surrounding and headed to Quick, sort of Jollibee here. Yet,the real treat was in the old town. Walking on the paved street for me was like being transported to another era. Aside from Musée des Beaux-Arts Dijon, we were able to visit Cathédrale de Saint Bénigne and the Notre Dame de Dijon. However, due to time constraint we were not able to visit other places. Our evening meal was in Le Théâtre des Sens, a small but cozy restaurant and where I've tried escargot. Yes, I did and blame it on the kir! Our dinner was really good, the waiter was very cheery and accomodating. We stayed at the Hotel Des Ducs where we spent the rest of the night watching crime scene investigation. Ah! the joy of havin...

Vacation over

It's kinda hard to get up early again after 2 weeks of staying up late.I've started taking the girls early to bed and of course, they're awake at around 6h30. My husband on the other hand has started working and I think he misses his late mornings. Now it's back to normal sched again. Now, I'm lazily doing my chores and still hoping that my mug of coffee will take effect soon. How do you get back to normal routine after weeks of vacation? A Kulasa and being on (Swiss) time

I cannot remember being "that late" besides I am a Kulasa and being on the dot was instilled in me. Well, there were times that due to unforseen circumstances I would be 5-10 mins late but that was it. So it was during my first two years of living here that I have really learned the importance of Swiss time . That thanks to my Mama. My mother would leave me when I didn't arrive on time. I would be upset and could not fathom the idea of being left like that. So I've learned to be on the dot(again) every time I have to see her. The idea of being late and being left behind stresses me to the max esp. if it is Mama. Now that I have two gals an extra time allowance has to be given so as not to be late. Besides, the buses have their stop and schedule so there are no more excuses. All I have to do is just be on time!
