First lesson & Fortaleza today

DSC_1934

The heatwave in Lisbon was a good excuse to try out the girls’ very first lesson. Their materials given by the school directress and teacher Vero, were scanned and saved in a USB key. My husband also saved it in the drive.
Karen was given the task to read Jean de Florette by Marcel Pagnol and Erin has her french lesson.
Frankly speaking they were motivated  because of the recompense afterwards. I guess we need to find a solution to this 🙂 and create a better schedule for their lesson.

Why Jean de Florette?

Before our trip, we have packed some books to be sent to my home country and didn’t realize that the girls did not pack any for our travels. There are card games and 4 other games to keep them occupied but not books.
Pagnol‘s Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources were supposed to be my “travel book” along with Joël Dicker‘s but teacher husband thought that the former will do for now until we find another book for our eldest.

Fortaleza
early morning view

We are currently in Fortaleza,Brazil, enjoying a lesser hot temperature. First day was spent doing the grocery in this huge shopping center.
Explored Praia do Futuro after the girls’  morning lesson today and bought some shrimps for R$ 20. The good thing about the latter is that my eldest daughter,Karen, realized that it’s good with some lime.
More of our Fortaleza adventure soon.

Our mid-week get away in Dijon

Dijon, one of the cities in France, was the destination of our mid-week get away. The city, which is well known for its mustard,is a 3-hour train ride from Genève via Lausanne. As I've mentioned in my previous post ,this was my first time to visit the city. We arrived mid-day to a gloomy surrounding and headed to Quick, sort of Jollibee here. Yet,the real treat was in the old town. Walking on the paved street for me was like being transported to another era. Aside from Musée des Beaux-Arts Dijon, we were able to visit Cathédrale de Saint Bénigne and the Notre Dame de Dijon. However, due to time constraint we were not able to visit other places. Our evening meal was in Le Théâtre des Sens, a small but cozy restaurant and where I've tried escargot. Yes, I did and blame it on the kir! Our dinner was really good, the waiter was very cheery and accomodating. We stayed at the Hotel Des Ducs where we spent the rest of the night watching crime scene investigation. Ah! the joy of havin...

Vacation over

It's kinda hard to get up early again after 2 weeks of staying up late.I've started taking the girls early to bed and of course, they're awake at around 6h30. My husband on the other hand has started working and I think he misses his late mornings. Now it's back to normal sched again. Now, I'm lazily doing my chores and still hoping that my mug of coffee will take effect soon. How do you get back to normal routine after weeks of vacation? A Kulasa and being on (Swiss) time

I cannot remember being "that late" besides I am a Kulasa and being on the dot was instilled in me. Well, there were times that due to unforseen circumstances I would be 5-10 mins late but that was it. So it was during my first two years of living here that I have really learned the importance of Swiss time . That thanks to my Mama. My mother would leave me when I didn't arrive on time. I would be upset and could not fathom the idea of being left like that. So I've learned to be on the dot(again) every time I have to see her. The idea of being late and being left behind stresses me to the max esp. if it is Mama. Now that I have two gals an extra time allowance has to be given so as not to be late. Besides, the buses have their stop and schedule so there are no more excuses. All I have to do is just be on time!
