Dalampasigan/Seashore

*** My entry for Litratong pinoy . During our trip to La Union, we went to a newly opened beach resort. While waiting for our cold drinks we saw them coming--an old man on his carabao. It was midday and they were slowly moving by the seashore. It seemed that both were tired and possibly on their way home.

Wednesday To Do List

I am starting my day quite early today coz there are so many things to accomplish. send e-mail to friends for Karen's contest--this is just for fun but I have been campaigning like mad. check the newspaper in the library for job offer--still searching for work. buy a new tube for my Hoover--found the shop which sells Hoover accessories and I want to go there this morning. get the bed and baby's clothes from my friend--she has set aside these things for Karen and we'll drive to her place later this afternoon. pass by the pediatrician's to get Karen's prescription--we are going to Prague this weekend and my baby needs another cream. finish my ironing and laundry--I hope that this can be done tonight. pass by Migros --I was in a hurry putting the groceries in my backpack that I have forgotten my mozarella. This is it! So I'm off now to start my day.

Hectic Tuesday

It's a busy morning for me today. I am trying to do some tasks before we leave this coming Saturday. Karen on the other hand seems so excited, she just finished eating her walnut bread and breastfed for 5 minutes, I guess she was thirsty but didn't like to drink water. She is currently crawling here and there and trying to scratch and pick up everything on her way. It's amazing how babies see every tiny object on the floor. Well, can't vacuum clean today! I have yet to buy the tube for my Hoover. It's nozzle is broken. Anyway, time to get back to work.

Rhyanna

They had the party combined for my goddaughter's christening and her father's birthday yesterday and though they said it would rain, it didn't pour until 9pm. So we were really lucky. Not that we had the whole celebration outside but some guests preferred to stay out and smoke. It was a great fiesta starting from 1:30pm up until almost 10pm. The new christened girl was really cute with her off-white dress. She visibly had a great time--only taking a nap midway through the party. And while the excited parents were busy opening the gifts, my goddaughter was happily crawling with my daughter Karen. This is Rhyanna who looks just like her daddy. Congratulations to the Torres!

Litratong Pinoy image gallery

Luntian/Green Kanluran/ West Dalampasigan/Seashore Liwaliw I have decided to put all together my entries to Litratong Pinoy . There are two pictures for the moment but hopefully I will be able to submit my picture every Thursday.

Dame in distress

It's kinda late but I can't sleep yet, of course baby Karen is already fast asleep and his father is snoring :). There is the sound of our electric fan but other than that, it's is so calm. I have already tidied up the apartment but something is bothering me. The reason? This afternoon I have seen the sister of a friend and she is looking well and slim. What's her secret? Exercise! What? No fancy diet? Yep!! Just exercise . I really envy her because she was motivated and was focused on her goal. I, on the other hand, always have a reason not to exercise. It is not in my vocabulary, etc.etc.. Before giving birth I have set my goal to get back in shape, to be able to fit into my jeans. Somehow that goal has been forgotten and other priorities have come into the surface but the universe has a strange way of reminding me of my long forgotten goal. This coming wkend is the baptism of my friend's daughter and I managed not to panic on what to wear (I will be one of the g...

Kanluran/West

My 2nd entry for Litratong Pinoy I have left her thinking that life in the west isn't for me but it seems that this is where I am destine to be. Geneva-- a city in Europe that is full of history. It is where we can find the Jet d'Eau - a large fountain in the lake of Geneva, one of the famous landmarks in the city. The fountain which is 140 meters, is created in 1886. It was also the attraction in the Euro 2008 last month.

Saturday outing and my CSS image gallery

Fun ride Welcome Colorful earrings Finally, after lots of frustrations and sleepless nights I was able to put together a picture gallery. Do you know that I even dreamnt of this CSS Image Gallery? That's how crazy and impatient I was. This all started when I was looking for CSS tutorial and I stumbled upon Mr.McCartney's blog. He has this picture gallery and I was intrigued on how he did it. In his blog he mentionned Narrowband who created a wonderful image gallery based on Dynamic Drive . Then I tried to follow Narrowband's tips. Mr. McCartney also gave me pointers in making this gallery.I also learned few tricks from Vin while browsing through the blogger help forum. There are still some more things to be done but I am happy on the way this turned out. So these pictures were taken during the fête de la tomate in Carouge last week where in different varieties of tomatoes were shown to the public together with other food stand. We have tasted varieties of tomatoes and o...

My loving chef

Boy, I am really gaining weight. It's my husband's fault. He loves cooking and can concoct just about anything. I, on the other, would sometimes try to prepare him pansit , salad or bake a cake. Generally, he is the one who cooks dinner, which is not a good idea because I would end up with so many things to wash(poor me!). But comparing to what he has prepared, it's nothing. My all time favorite is risotto with different sorts of mushroom, followed by pasta and sauce of the moment. This could be pesto, or salmon or just about anything he found in the fridge. His grilled chicken is the best, he would marinate it for about 1 / 2 hour and cook with potatoes underneath. Not to forget his lasagna con spinaci with bolognese sauce. Curry (vegs or meat) is also in my list, we usually eat it with chapati. He learned to prepare the latter from our friend, Kailash. For a long time, he tried to persuade me to eat polenta, but I just can't. The other day, he cooked it with tun...

We are family

Most of the Pinoys leaving here tend to get together only on weekends and my family is no exception. Sunday is our special day. This is the time to catch up. Talk about relatives back home. The time for manicure and pedicure. For inexpensive haircut. Here's my cousin Eloise(half Pinay, half Italian) Sinigang . Boy bawang. Junk food galore. Red wine. What?? Red wine and sinigang? Well, we are from Cavite and eccentricity runs in our blood. What ever!! Anyway, the size of my mother's studio is not an excuse for us and squeezed like sardines we would be told of Mama and her siblings' younger days. That would be interrupted with dessert and coffee. Then there's the magic sing . Someone with stronger voice might sing, amidst the laughter and story telling she might get 100% score due to her effort to be heard. Another one would try to sing and monopolize the microphone in the process. This would only stop when we got tired and realized that we need to go home. Dogg...

Luntian/Green

I am really happy that it's Thursday. Finally I can join in. This is my first entry to Litratong Pinoy. The photo was taken yesterday during my sister-in-law's birthday. Someone left his beer in this green stool and this is an opportunity for me to take the picture.

window garden update

This is where my window gardening is so far. My lavender is flourishing . I have added several plants and still waiting impatiently for them to grow quickly. They have experienced storm and never-ending change of weather. Due to these factors I sometimes move some plants inside. I will need more tomatoes to make salad for two, that's for sure but basils are doing great. Now, I realized that I should have planted each plant in pairs. Oh well, next time. By the way, how’s your garden?

Chaotic no more!!

While I was pregnant, the entrance to our apartment became my husband's hang-out!! , he started using that area to smoke and to read at the same time. So the entrance would be filled with lots of reading materials and passing through that would always be a challenge. That would be an exaggeration, but it's true. I don't like seeing the mess. Newspapers, cigarette butts, tons of lighters. Wanting to have our entrance clean and in order, my quest to get a cheap magazine rack started. I have scoured second hand shops but didn't find any. So I have waited...and just this morning while going home from the market I have seen this wooden box together with other objects to be thrown away. Lucky me the garbage truck hasn't arrived yet!! I should have taken the "before" state of his "sanctuary", but anyway I am contented that it looks better this time. Adding a pot of plant made the difference.

Left column lost!!

My second column disappeared. I was trying to modify something then after previewing my work, the left column is nowhere in sight. So now all my page elements are stocked together. Grrr!!!Hopefully, I can do it again. Patience, patience and more coffee, pls! after several hours of cutting and pasting ; ) -- Well, the problem is solved but not without loads of errors. Anyway, I am really thankful that there are quite a few sites that give tricks and tips for new bloggers like me. There's also one site that really helped me to have 3 columns . I will definitely check some more sites...

Bye,bye Rapunzel!!

To cut or not to cut really short that is the question... I have got tired of my long hair and so decided to cut them really short--way to short. In my mind there are more important things to do, alright, I can say that because of Karen I don't want to spend so much time doing my hair or say that I am just plain lazy. Let's pick the latter. I am not really into blow drying then ironing them flat for a straighter hair. I just don't want to go through all these routine. So the ceramic hair iron that my mother gave me is now tucked in my drawer. Hair brushes of all sorts now lodge under the sink. I have bid them goodbye and didn't look back just a triumphant smile knowing that I will no longer need them. Starting today, this gooey substance in a green tube is my new ally. Will this last? Maybe...The most important thing is I feel great.

Our little girl!!

She just turned 8 months. My,oh,my!! how quickly time flies. She is crawling now and we can't keep her in the playpen for more than 10 minutes. Though she likes the high chair. Our Karen has learned quite a few things that made us laugh and for my part reassured that she is doing alright.Bravo, Galinette!!

Zenni Optical was on FOX news

They are stylish and recently was on Fox news. That's right!!-- Zenni on Fox . These prescription glasses are great deals . There are huge selection of frames with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic)lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. Another good news is that they are available online from $8, really cheap huh!! Sun and palettes

We were in Verbier a couple of weeks ago for my mother-in-law's birthday celebration. It was sunny but not that hot and I think it was a good respite from Geneva's intense heat. It was overwhelming to see the flowers all around--it felt like being in the set of Little House in the Prairie and inspite of my hay fever I have savoured the beauty of it all. My daughter Karen also enjoyed her colorful "swimming pool", her grand-mère(lola)next to her while I take pictures. It was an enjoyable weekend. Hopefully we'll be back soon to gather blueberries and mushrooms.

Stop!! Mother at work

There are days that I don't know where to start--the bathroom or Karen's room, or should I just sit and talk to my sister. Oh! and there is the laundry to be dried. Well, I am not really complaining ; ) and we don't have a big apartment, it's just that sometimes I feel there's a lot to do but so little time. If I can just stretch my day and finish my priority list, but it's the list that has been stretched all through the week. Yes! I am a list maker. One can find it on the used envelope, on my post-it, and the back of every used papers in the house. I like the thought of being organized and putting it into writing, even a simple thing. Seeing the red mark on the paper just lift up my mood, wow! another one accomplished. This will surely be repeated the following week and I have to add another to-do chores again but the most important thing is that I have done one thing from my list. Now I can relax, have a cup of tea, and yes--revise my priority.

Earn thru payperpost

It was just recently when I have found out that someone can earn money by blogging. In every mom's blog I have visited they talked about earning while writing about the things they like and I was like--really???!! This got me curious but didn't do anything yet because I thought that my blog is so new. However, being a stay-at-home Nanay gave me an ample time to learn more about blogging. I was really excited about writing and the whole prospect of earning while at home. Then I learned about payperpost . This is where one can easily earn money by just blogging. How neat is that!!! Having read how ppp helped a lot of people in their everyday lives inspired me to try this. If others can gain something positive from this why not me, right? Anyway, let's see where this whole experience will lead me. I will keep you all posted. So if you are--thinking of having your own blog or already have a blog and wants to gain something from it don't hesitate to learn more about ppp, ...

One month and counting!!!!

Some people--family and friends, not much traffic here yet :(-- might noticed that I have modified my descriptions. Hopefully this is the last time, but I guess the changes made are more relevant to what I want to share and it sounds better. It's been a month since I have started this and there are lot more to learn. That is the most exciting part--the learning--, if I haven't started this,Html would just be Html for me,and the possibility to discover new things on the internet would be minimal. Blogging has opened doors that lead to more curiosity and exploring, a greater knowledge and a sense of community. I am really grateful to be a part of this. Hmmm...feels like my Emmy speech! Anyway, special thanks to hubby for visiting my site...he,he,he!

My imaging for a cool summer

sitting under a mango tree in front of my parents' house we have this big mango tree and underneath we would sit and indulge ourselves with the cool breeze. swimming in the river there's this river next to my aunt's house and it's fun to go there. She would cook something and together with whatever food we've brought, we would eat and swim and enjoy the day. drinking iced cold Pop 6 pesos--that's all I need to quench my thirst. beaches in Batangas amidst the strong sound of karaoke music and laughing children, the cool blue water of the sea is tempting, dip in and enjoy the waves. selecta ice cream cookies and cream-one of my favorites, need I say more? my sister's fruit salad she's a very good cook and I love her salad- it's really yummy!! Tagaytay ahh!our little Baguio. winter in Verbier the snow covered mountain, the whiteness of the surrounding. That feels great...

The Iron Chef speaks out!!!

This post was written by a guest blogger. I have been working as a private domestic for a permanent representative of a small but humble state to the UN for almost 10 yrs now and am fortunate because my work place is just across the street from the Palais Eynard (mayor's office) and a couple of steps to Parc Bastion and a stone throw distance to the Place de Bourg du Four where Palais the Justice and Police station are situated. For many years now I have been a part of this small but lovely neighborhood, exchanges "bonjour" or hello with a smile, as most of us do here, with the people I meet in the street and witnessed the changes of the area. All those cultural manifestations, sporting events and summer festivals even those lovely sunny days at the park where peole relax and enjoy the greens and shades of a hot summer day --these enhances the lively ambiance of the neighborhood. Then came the building renovation last year. In just 12 months, there were about 4 build...

No smoking pls!

Starting today cigarette smoking is ban in all public places here in Geneva. I think that this is good news for non-smoker like me who finds it difficult to stay in a pub filled with smoke. Having the ban this summer is a good move as smokers will stay out in the terrace and will eventually have the habit of not smoking inside a restaurant or a pub. Geneva is the 6 th of the 26 canton of Switzerland that prohibits smoking in public places.
