A Memoir of an Ex CLEANING LADY

by Elle
The Beginning
You'll notice that I've written my title in capital letters. It's about giving my profession a decent recognition it deserve.
But first, let me tell you about myself. I'm one of those Pinays who at 21, left our beloved country to seek for a greener pasture. You know the usual---help my family, save for my future blah, blah, blah. Well, that's half-truth. I really wanted to buy shoes, own as much as Imelda did because growing up with 5 siblings wasn't all that easy in the fashion category.
People might find it obscene to have that kind of goal. I don't mind. There are those who left to get away from something or someone, through a legal or illegal manner,to amass wealth, build their dream house, marry a foreigner but mine is different. I want to be different. And what's more different than surpassing the "Rose of Tacloban"? Therefore following my incessant plea to my aunt who was in Europe at that time, she helped me find an employer. After 3 months, I was ready to fly and conquer Europe.
...to be continued.

Our mid-week get away in Dijon

Dijon, one of the cities in France, was the destination of our mid-week get away. The city, which is well known for its mustard,is a 3-hour train ride from Genève via Lausanne. As I've mentioned in my previous post ,this was my first time to visit the city. We arrived mid-day to a gloomy surrounding and headed to Quick, sort of Jollibee here. Yet,the real treat was in the old town. Walking on the paved street for me was like being transported to another era. Aside from Musée des Beaux-Arts Dijon, we were able to visit Cathédrale de Saint Bénigne and the Notre Dame de Dijon. However, due to time constraint we were not able to visit other places. Our evening meal was in Le Théâtre des Sens, a small but cozy restaurant and where I've tried escargot. Yes, I did and blame it on the kir! Our dinner was really good, the waiter was very cheery and accomodating. We stayed at the Hotel Des Ducs where we spent the rest of the night watching crime scene investigation. Ah! the joy of havin...

Vacation over

It's kinda hard to get up early again after 2 weeks of staying up late.I've started taking the girls early to bed and of course, they're awake at around 6h30. My husband on the other hand has started working and I think he misses his late mornings. Now it's back to normal sched again. Now, I'm lazily doing my chores and still hoping that my mug of coffee will take effect soon. How do you get back to normal routine after weeks of vacation? A Kulasa and being on (Swiss) time

I cannot remember being "that late" besides I am a Kulasa and being on the dot was instilled in me. Well, there were times that due to unforseen circumstances I would be 5-10 mins late but that was it. So it was during my first two years of living here that I have really learned the importance of Swiss time . That thanks to my Mama. My mother would leave me when I didn't arrive on time. I would be upset and could not fathom the idea of being left like that. So I've learned to be on the dot(again) every time I have to see her. The idea of being late and being left behind stresses me to the max esp. if it is Mama. Now that I have two gals an extra time allowance has to be given so as not to be late. Besides, the buses have their stop and schedule so there are no more excuses. All I have to do is just be on time!
